Tour 2010-2011: About Our Tour

Greetings Everyone,

I am excited for our upcoming trip to the Netherlands and Belgium. I wanted to give you a basic idea of where we will be going and what we will be doing, especially for those of you following along at home. We have a lot of diverse, fun and educational experiences planned…I am very excited about all our plans.

Saturday, March 12th – Fly. Depart Fargo for Minneapolis at 5:05 pm. Minneapolis – Amsterdam is direct. We arrive in Amsterdam at 11:00am local time.

Sunday, March 13th – Arrive. Tour of Amsterdam, including a canal boat ride. Next, the Rijksmuseum. Travel to Haarlem. Dinner at hotel.

Monday, March 14th – Walking tour of Haarlem. Visit St. Bavo Church (hopefully we’ll get to hear the organ). Travel to Dokkum and meet our host families.

Tuesday, March 15th – Visit Leeuwarden. Master Class with my friend Geert-Jan van Beijeren at the Fontein Kerk. Evening performance with local quartet Four Young Voices.

Wednesday, March 16th – Travel to Hilversum to attend rehearsals of the Netherlands Radio Choir and the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Travel to DeFontein Kerk in Katwijk for a master class with Dr. Andre Thomas. Travel to Den Haag (the Hague) for a hotel stay.

Thursday, March 17th – Visit Delft for sight-seeing, and then travel to Beek for homestays.

Friday, March 18th – Visit Maastricht. Rehearsal and performance with Universiteit Maastricht and Mannenkoor Beek Leidertafe. Social hour with the choirs afterwards.

Saturday, March 19th – Return to Den Haag to attend dress rehearsal of the AMIS Honor Band and Choir. 4:00 pm performance for the festival participants. Travel to Bruges in Belgium.

Sunday, March 20th – Sing at 10:00 am Mass at the St. Gilliskerk Brugge. Walking tour of Bruges. Dinner at hotel.

Monday, March 21st – Travel back to Netherlands. Sight-seeing in Antwerp. Hotel stays in Haarlem.

Tuesday, March 22nd – Fly back home. Arrival in Fargo at 4:37 pm (Delta)
