So it has been quite a while since I last posted anything. In preparation for our upcoming trip to the Netherlands and Belgium, I’m starting back up. Keep checking this blog regularly for info about the trip, music, and other topics of general interest.
To start with: Ger Geist Hilft!!! I picked this youtube clip for a few reasons. First, its much different than the interpretation we are working on. Almost everything is different: tempos, articulation, phrasing, instrumentation, etc, which is very interesting to me. Second, it is slower that we take it, so hearing the individual lines is a touch easier and therefore might help you in preparation for tomorrow’s part tests. Last, conductor Helmuth Rilling is one of the world’s great experts on Bach, so anything he does with Bach is worth listening to and thinking about.
